Can Text Messaging Simplify the Admissions Process?

Submitting college applications. Sending transcripts. Personalizing essays. Coordinating references. The list goes on and on. Applying to college is often a grueling process, particularly when students lack the guidance and resources to properly navigate the admissions system. Recognizing these issues, the White House’s Office of Public Engagement has teamed up with Huge and Civic Nation to pilot a text messaging program called Up Next.

How ESSA Impacts College Student Success

It’s been one month since the Every Student Succeeds Act was signed into law. As the most recent iteration of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, this law seeks to give states more authority and accountability over achievement goals, academic standards, assessment, and intervention strategies.

Teen Use of Facebook Beginning Decline: Should you Pull the Plug on Your Admissions Facebook Strategy?

Media outlets have been declaring that teens are leaving Facebook for over a year, and most recently, even Facebook admitted that there has been a decline in daily usage amongst this influential demographic. According to a recent Pew Research Center report on Teens and Social Media, “teens show that they have a waning enthusiasm for Facebook, disliking the increasing adult presence, people sharing excessively, and stressful ‘drama,’ but they keep using it because participation is an important part of overall teenage socializing.” Are these early indicators that Facebook is going the way of MySpace?

So I wasn’t surprised to see Fast Company’s article “Fast Talk: The Visual Shift” — where industry experts were asked to weigh in on how businesses can adapt to our image-obsessed culture.
