XpertTip No. 145: An html basicPosted by Adrienne Bartlett on March 8, 2010At the risk of alienating our more advanced clients, today I wanted to offer a little html tidbit that you should be using (so if you’re the html guru in the office, might want to bail out now. What follows is gonna be a snoozefest for you;) I’m always curious why I see so many emails go out without email addresses hot-linked. It’s a basic best practice that most recipients just expect at this point. And it’s simple to do. Just highlight the address and click the “Insert Link” icon in our html editor (that’s the little chain that appears to the right of the globe in the toolbar). In the box that appears, find the “URL” line and use this format to hyperlink your text: mailto:emailaddress@domain.edu Don’t include a space and hit ok — and that’s it. You’ve made it that much easier for a prospect or parent to reach out to you in a flash. I know it’s a seemingly small thing. But the little things add up to emails that get noticed and get results.
