CRM Consultant (Sales Development Representative)

Reports to: Associate Director, Sales Development
Location: Philadelphia, PA
Travel Requirements: 20-35%

Job Summary

TargetX is seeking a consultative sales development professional who is passionate about applying technology to improve the recruitment and retention of students in higher education. The CRM Consultant (sales development representative) is responsible for cultivating new business opportunities for selling a suite of technology products and services to colleges and universities, including TargetX’s Recruitment and Retention suite of solutions. The position is entrepreneurial and those who succeed in this role are 1) familiar with and passionate about higher education and higher education technology, 2) excellent problem solvers, and  3) successfully able to build relationships with all levels of staff within a university.  

The CRM Consultant assists the field sales team in all parts of the sales process, from the cold calls and rebuttals, and to the close- with an emphasis on outbound outreach to generate and qualify leads. The key objectives are to establish and grow a book of business while working closely with our field sales team to produce custom proposals and ensure customer satisfaction. The CRM Consultant will be responsible for executing a comprehensive outbound lead generation plan through phone calls, email campaigns, events, social media, and other marketing channels.

Professionals without sales experience will be considered if 1) they have strong experience in higher ed and 2) have relevant experience working with technology within higher ed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a lead generation plan to generate a sales pipeline and support monthly,  quarterly, and annual targets.
  • Develop and support account and opportunity strategies to win new business in collaboration with account executives in their respective territories.
  • Lead prospects through initial sales cycle. This includes prospecting and managing inbound leads.  
  • Discover new business opportunities as well as manage relationships with existing customer base and renewal sales for specific products.
  • Engage with prospects in a consultative process to thoroughly assess their needs and propose appropriate services.  
  • Research the marketplace for new potential customers, as well as identify new marketing content for existing customer base – information usually found by using external information sources i.e. internet, industry publications, competitor websites, referrals etc.
  • Collaborate with Marketing on lead generation projects.
  • Ensure successful sales through professional and timely responses, sound knowledge of services available, and timely sales execution.
  • Travel as required to prospects, customers, or marketing events.

Experience Required and Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 6 months – 3 years of overall work experience with track record of success in consultative sales and solution selling of SaaS applications or IT consulting services; or background in management consulting, IT strategy, or technical sales support is highly preferred. Professionals without sales experience will be considered if 1) they have strong experience in higher ed and 2) have relevant experience working with technology within higher ed.
  • Strong ability to prospect new contacts within small, medium, and large universities using creative cold calling techniques and online tools such as Linkedin.  
  • Obvious passion for higher ed, technology, and technical sales with deep experience in or serving higher ed.
  • Excellent problem solving skills with experience using technology to improve organizational processes.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact and communicate with all levels of an organization both internally and externally at a school.
  • Ability to quickly learn the products, audience profile, and TargetX’s unique selling points.
  • Experience with Salesforce.com, Force.com and AppExchange offerings a huge plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage the execution of several strategic and cross-functional projects.

  • Must be able to travel (20-30%).

Job Summary:
This Project Manager will be responsible for the management of multiple concurrent projects that drive our product roadmap forward. This includes new features and functionality for our TargetX platform to be used by school administrators, guidance and admissions counselors, students, teachers, and everyone that surrounds them. The job also includes prioritizing and managing through trouble tickets, coordinating with our support and services team, and helping make our software more successful.

This is an important position, where the right candidate has to be able to think on their feet, juggle multiple projects at the same time with ease, and coordinate with outside groups (clients, partners), our internal engineering, qa and support teams. We are looking for someone who relishes this kind of challenge, and is ready to make a big impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage multiple projects and programs, often partnering closely with internal systems and IT organizations within Salesforce, as well as third party vendors.
  • Build trusted relationships with key business leaders within the Finance and Strategy organization and IT.
  • Partner with team to assess the size and complexity of proposed projects, determining project resource needs for the annual project roadmap.
  • Help develop, implement, and evangelize standard processes for release management, defect management, collection of market feedback to help drive engineering goals
  • Communicate scope, timeline and risks clearly.
  • Can balance problem solving with escalation.
  • Executes programs to achieve objectives in assigned area of responsibility.

Job Summary:
The Technical Project Manager role will be responsible for the management of multiple concurrent projects, including our TargetX platform improvements, 3rd party integration projects, reporting, internal tools, data migrations and more. These projects will all directly contribute to the company goals of increasing reliability and automation, decreasing manual efforts and tasks.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Project scoping for technical and functional solutions.
  • Project Status Reporting for technical projects (Project tool and group posts).
  • Act as the IT liaison representing TargetX in vendor discussions, status meetings, and design discussions.
  • Drive projects by creating and maintaining tasks as well as working with task owners for the delivery of solutions.
  • Facilitate design and development discussions as needed to drive project and scoping efforts.
  • Managing questions, educating users, and solving issues.
  • Staying up to date with new changes and developments with internal sales applications.
  • Escalating issues, follow up, and communicating resolution to users
  • Developing and contributing to standard documentation and knowledge bases
  • Strong focus on customer service and support required
  • Ability to take initiative and be proactive in proposing solutions and avoiding problems.
  • Ability to learn new content areas and new skills quickly and well.
  • Understanding of business functions related to the application.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
